What kind of paint did you use? I'll be starting a trailer renovation this summer and looking for solid paint options that will hold up to the abuse.

I used ACE brand Rust Stop #225A114 Regal Red Oil Based Enamel
I have no idea how well it will stand up. We will see.

I finished it up today. New tailgate boards, painted the wheels and got everything mounted back up.
I've never been happy with where the spares are mounted. I may relocate them. There kinda in the way when side loading.

Dang that looks good, unless you got Deere blood running thru you!!!

My "Rims" are rust colored, they match my trailer.......no paint needed....lol

I did rebuild a snowmobile trailer last winter, or 2 winters ago now, gave it the mandatory flat black and even sprung for some new wheels. Well, one was new so I had to spray the other white also.

Yes, the red on the rims looks great.
Only thing it needs now is some extension rails so you can double your load.

What you got for a floor? Treated 2x?

Trailer is rated at 6000 lb and truck is just a half ton. No point raising the sides when all I can handle is 6ooo lb anyway.
As best I can tell I have never overloaded it but I have broken a spring twice already so ex-nay on the taller sides. lol
Floor is typical 2x6 treated with 1/2'' treated ply over that.
The ply wood helps keep from breaking the floor boards if a log gets dropped in the
trailer.

Trailer looks great!

I've been putting off repainting my smaller 5x8 trailer but it's now getting to the top of the list. Does anyone have experience using POR15? It claims to be designed for direct application over "seasoned" steel.

I would suspect most paints with a rust inhibitor would preform in a similar way.
