I've got a couple of questions on the 757.

I've got a local Shindaiwa dealer that has a 757 thats been sitting on the shelf for awhile. I never inquired about it until today. I was getting some other stuff for my tractor and asked the parts guy how much it was. He said I could take it home for $650. At first I didn't think that was too bad of a price with a 32" bar and chain. I came home and did a little research, being some what familiar with Shindaiwas but never owning a piece of there equipment, found out from here that they were bought out by Echo. This leads me to a couple of questions:

1. How long do you think parts will be available for this thing? My guess is that support will continue for a few years, but will then start to taper off once they sell off all their stuff. I know its a good piece of equipment and will last for years, but my worry is for things like airfilters and such that I wouldn't be able to get anymore.

2. What is the retail price on this thing? I ended up having to go back and get some grease that I forgot. I explained to him that I knew parts probably would be hard to find for it after a couple of years. He agreed. Although I didn't haggle with him, I think I can get him down to around $500. I guess what i'm asking is for the difference between retail and what he's asking for it, so I have a good guess on what I can offer. You know I don't want to low ball the place because i've been doing business with them for years.

The other thing is, if I couldn't get him to come off the price a whole lot I figured I could atleast try to talk a 24" bar and chain out of him.

3. Whats the oiler like on this saw? Is it good for 32" ??

Thanks for all the help.

I don't have a 757 nor have I ran one, but I have a couple shindaiwa's and availibility of parts is an issue. I think you will be safe for a while with a 757 because they sold that saw for a while and a few of them are around. The worst part is there isn't many after market suppliers.

I have a 757. It was a project saw that I put together last year and parts were not an issue but I can't speak to parts availability today. One year ago all the parts were available from a site sponsor. Some of them were odd parts too.

It is a solidly built saw that would probably run a 32" bar with skip chain, although I think a 28" is the max recommended.

It is a solid, well designed saw.

If you can get it for $500 you will have done well. I bought my first one with less than an hour on it for $500. I also got a good running used 757W for $175. Parts so far haven't been an issue except for some of their older saws. It is my understanding Shindaiwa will continue to build saws, just not for US sale due to the EPA standards.

Hey thanks for the info guys.

I think when I make my next trip, which will probably be in a couple of weeks, assuming that the saw will still be there, I think i'll offer him $500 for it. If he won't take that I'll give him some time to think about it, and tell him to call me if he ever wants to sale it for that price. I know that saw has been sitting there for a while because I remember seeing it there 6 months ago. It may have even been there longer than that. Maybe he'll get tired of seeing it sit there a come around to my offer.

Hey alderman, I know you have experience with the 757, is 32" ok for the oiler on it, or is that too much length? I'm pretty sure its a 32" bar, although I didn't actually check the #'s on it. It could be a 28", but I don't think it is. I think it's a 32". I'll double check next time i'm there.

Shindaiwa's are still for sale here in canada, and new models are coming out. I don't think parts are going to be an issue for quite awhile.

That's a good price, even at 650. My dealer has one on the shelf too, I just forget what he wants for it, but it's a lot more than that....$800 maybe?

My first 757 came with 32" bar. To be honest I only gave it one workout with that bar on it and it handled it great power wise and I didn't see any oiler issues. I run all my saws at max oil output.

I put 24" bar on mine as it will handle most anything I cut. My recently purchased 757 was loaded with a 36" bar. Maybe a bit much, but I haven't run it with that bar on it.

I didn't think about checking there other websites daddy66. They are still selling them in Canada. Maybe they will still be around for a while.

I'm gonna have to think about this saw for a little bit. It's one of those things where you want it, but don't really need it. I got plenty of work for it to do, I just don't need it.

I think I've got that CAD stuff going on.. Hope this ain't the beginning of it.

32" bar OK with skip chain

I have a 757 that I had to put a piston and cylinder in last month. I picked it up for a song because the previous owner ran it with an air leak. I was able to get all of the parts through my local supplier with no issue. The saws are still in production, just not for sale in the US.

I have ran a 30" bar with semi-chisel skip tooth with no issues. It oils fine and also performs great with a 24" full chisel non skip. I haven't even done a muffler mod to it yet. Impressive saw!

Haven't been back yet

I haven't been back yet to talk to them. I've got several other things going on that are more important. College addmission, maintenance on other stuff, just drains the bank account. Will see what happen in the next couple of weeks. Got my fingers crossed.

Finally bit the bullet

I went back to the store today, and it was still sitting there. I jokeingly told the guy that I came in today to haggle him and see what I could get out of him. I was also in the market for a blower, because my old echo one has seen better days. Anyways, all I could get the guy to come off of it was $50 bucks. I also had my eye on the Shindaiwa EB 802, but I couldn't get him to come off of it for craps. He cut me a small deal on an Echo PB-500 for $300, which I think retails for about $340 or so. I ended up walking out the door with the blower and 757 for $900. Not quiet as good of a deal as I was hopeing for, but I'm happy with it.

Just saw your post alderman on one for $400 in your neck of the woods. Go grab it!

I'm actually impressed with the blower though, pretty strong little beast.

I'll post a pic or two of the saw up in a few days maybe.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I didn't get a chance to run the saw today, but will soo.
