What do you guys think of these saw? I ahve a friend that has a brand new 377 and he is moving to the city where he will never need a saw again. He has only cut one load of firewood with it and I was there. Seems to cut fine?

$200 with all of the extra parts and files, etc.

Buy it - especially if it has only cut one load of wood. I consider the 377 to be a professional quality saw - MSRP is $400 with a 16" bar. You will not be disappointed with it if you buy it - light and powerful - and it will last you a lifetime if you are only cutting firewood for your woodstove.

If you have additional questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to the site!

its a great saw It Japanese.I worked for the Japanese 7 yrs, they dont make secong rank stuff

ALL Shindiwia saws are PRO quality!! There motors are top notch!! the saws are a bit heavy, but for that price, who cares? That is a great buy, on a great saw!

I have a Shindaiwa weed whacker that's been running like new for six years now,and it cuts better than any other trimmer I've used.I do not have any experience with their chainsaws though.

Well, I have little Shindaiwa experiance but our 757 has very good power fot it's displacement and the quality overall seems to be there. I'd snatch up a 377 for that kind of money in a heartbeat

Shindaiwa

I bought a used Shindaiwa 360 and really like it. It is basically the 377 with only one bar stud. When I first got it I thought I'd probably not use it much, but I find I tend to grab it first and if it doesn't handle what I need cut, I step up to one of the bigger saws. The little 2.5 horse motor is a snappy performer and does suprisingly well for a little saw. I'd give $200 for one in the condition you describe and not feel hurt about it at all.

I just had a customer drop off a 757. Is this a pretty good saw? It's all Stihl all the time around here so I don't know about this one... Is this saw still in production?

:newbie:

YES!!!!!!!!! It is the largest saw they make! Did I mention all of Shindawia saws are PRO models? Not sure everybody got that? Tell me what you have in it and I will pay that and shipping, OK?:bang:

We have a local small engine repair shop. He sells and services Ariens, Snapper, Toro and a bunch of other brands of small equipment. My father has done a lot of business with him over the years. He even stocks parts for Craftsman's snow blowers. He also stocks and services Shindaiwa chain saws and weed eaters. I never really thought to much about them at all. After reading this post I looked at Shindaiwa's web site. The 488 looks like a pretty nice saw. I just don't know if I can get past them being made in Japan when there are other brands made in the US and Europe.............being the US auto worker (UAW) that I am!

Like I said, a CUSTOMER brought this in... If I sold his saw to some guy on the internet they'd call ME a redneck!!! It probably wouldn't do too much for buisness either.... But hey, I'll tell him when I get it runnin' we got a hot buyer. I should warn you though, he said when he brought it that he saw one on ebay for about $800 so he thinks his is worth that! I'll keep ya posted!

Well, for about $200 less, I could have orderd in a brand new one last winter when they where on sale! Tell him to put it on e-bay!

Not really relevant here, but my brother the arborist has had a shindaiwa 360 (as I recall) in his personal quiver for many years and it has been great. I've taken it home for periods in years past and I really felt is was a well made saw. I tried to buy a newer one several years ago and for some reason it didnt' seem as smooth so I didn't buy it.
