Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
This is a project that I am playing around with. I used an extendable handle from a tool that measures distance using small wheels. The handle is from a Corona ponysaw. The blade is from Home Depot. I welded up a steel head to mount the saw blade. The handle mount is made of aluminum. At the short position it is 24." At the long position it is 48". These measurements are at the roughly the middle of the blade. So far this has been a great tool for pruning. It is light, but not that long that it gets in the way too much.

In some ways this is on the crude side. I am still working out some of the bugs. I am still working out how to scabbard this saw. Also, how to keep from losing the blade when extending it. I am thinking that a thin piece of cable inside attached to both ends may do the trick.

Interesting Rich. I've found a 4-5' polesaw headpole section to be really handy in orchard pruning but I've never climbed with it.(I've used the polesaw in the tree plenty but not just a short headpole). Of course Fanno has been selling short polesaws forever but yours is the first extendable, pistolgrip saw I've seen.
