Yes, I should have listened. If anyone remembers, I asked for advise on a saw while back. Everyone for the most part said 372 even though I was aking about the 365 and echo 670. Wound up w/ 670 (dealer was on the way home and price was the best). Not a bad saw. Could have lived with it just fine. Then I got the used 371 from a dealer off e-bay. It was ok but I think it was used commercially and on a down hill slide. Sold it (didn't lose a dime.....fortunately) I now have a new 372. Only got about 3-4 tanks though it. First two tanks I used it light (not half throttle, just small cuts). Not even broke in it is stonger than the echo, granted it is slightly more displacement. Yesterday I used the 372 to cut 6x6's that I had made out of telephone poles. The saw is awsome! It basically dropped right through them. There are a few things that could be different to make it perfect....in my opinion. I am very happy with it and should have got it in the first place. Now I have an echo to sell. Then I might look for a 288 just for fun!

Thanks,
Doug

yep doug. one thing u can usually count on is good info on what the best out there is. this forum leans a bit to the husk side but ,it because the bang for the buck is good. i like several brands but my 372 is the best i got. it aint even half way new but i wouldnt swap it for a new one,as its been dan henryd.:)

Yup. It may have taken me 30 years of being sort of cheap...uh....economical, to realize you might as well get quality from the get go. When I was 9 I was proud of my Buffalo socket set till I broke a socket tightening the chain on my motor cycle.

I'm gonna give it a tank or two more then I'll do the muffler. I bet I'll really like it then.

Well I’m right there with you, most of the time. This time, I listened and got the 372. I bought mine used, but it still seems to have all kinds of life left in it. I ran it stock for a while and then opened up the muffler. You will enjoy it. One of the other things that I think makes a difference is your fuel mix. I like Opti-2 and have run it as lean as 75:1 and I swear that there is a noticeable difference between the power at 75:1 vs. 50:1, but I can’t bring myself to run 75:1 on a regular basis, even though I have people telling me they have been doing it while milling. The bottle says to mix it at 100:1 for all your 2 cycle stuff, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I run at 50:1 now. I figuear that if the bottle says 100:1 and dyno oil says to run at 50:1, running synthetic at 50:1 should be pretty safe.

How much for the 670? I've been looking for another saw to add to the list of gear for felling/bucking trees.

20" windsor speed tip and Oregon LG. I want a 16" cause I think it would just rip, and a 24". I thought about a 28" but wouldn't have much use for it and after reading other post here, I'm gonna go w/ the 24". I could have used one today. I was cutting wood at my brothers and there was a pretty big black oak over a gully. I let him use it to see how it ran. The bar didn't reach through and unfortunatly the only part of wood he left holding it was on the down hill side. I drove in a wedge to keep the kerf from closing on the bar and he was able to reach it from the uphill side.
Didn't want a 2' by 12' log rolling on anyone. I

really like the saw. I need to quit thinking about the muffler and just do it.

Yeah I gotta do it. I did the muffler on my 350 and that saw is fun to use. Light and eats up anything under 12" and it don't complain (as long as I don't lean on it) if the bar is burried (16")
I had the 372 in a lot of 18" white oak today and the way it went through that in stock form was impressive to me. I think the two saws make a good combination.

Thanks,
Doug
