I have a 50ish foot Eastern Hemlock with a v trunk showing signs of splitting. Would you advise cabling or removal? It's in an urban setting.View attachment IMG_4355.jpeg

You actually have 2 trees there, which are slowly growing apart, since their canopies are unbalanced. This would definitely be a good candidate for cabling to prolong their useful life.

I would recommend removal, only because if it does fail its absolutely going to damage property.
Where it was grown together for years is probably compromised and could lead to disease and rot.
