I have a 300mm Zubat and love it. IMO, it's the perfect mid-size handsaw. I'm looking into getting a Sugoi, what size do you recommend, the 360mm (14 1/5" blade) or the 420mm (16 1/2" blade)?

I have the 16" blade. I was unaware that they made a 14" blade for the Sugoi. I would probably have opted for the shorter blade after using the one with the 16" blade. It can be cumbersome climbing with the longer Sugoi when you wear it strapped to your leg.

If I had it to do over, I would never have wasted my money on the overpriced Sugoi. My $18 Corona cuts far better. Seriously. Also, the scabbard that comes with the Sugoi is junk. It allows twigs and leaves and whatever else you encounter, while aloft, to get in when the saw is in use. You go to put your saw away and ----- it won't go. Great fun at seventy feet. My Sugoi has been sitting in my garage for about two years. The scabbard is very useful when I need to keep the door open to my house. It slides right under the door and holds it open. Pretty expensive door prop, though.

Maybe take a hacksaw blade and enlarge the hole in the bottom of the scabbard?

I used to use Silky when they started to become trendy in the late nineties, and to be fair they are a good saw but they don't last any longer than anything else I've used. These days I use more generic brands Felco, and Corona to mention two. I also like ARS blades (despite a lousy experience with their telescopic pole saw).

I own a sugoi and it cuts great but so does the $20 corona. I cant tell the difference really. But you can spend your money as you wish.
