Not sure where to post this: but since last summer I started to get skin rashes on my wrists in both arms. I'm quite careful to avoid poison ivy and always use gloves and long sleeve shirts. I'm started to wonder if Im actually allergic to trees... Haven't gone to the dr yet but want to see if anyone can relate here. It would go away in about 2 weeks. Quite frustrating since it would get real itchy...

I had something similar happen to me on my ankles and mid way up my legs. I went to doctor they told me allergic reaction to something. I get a shot and I went home. Next time I went there happened again. It was some small weeds that let loose those clingy seeds and they got in my socks. Maybe its a certian bark that bothers you.

That sounds an awful lot like poison ivy to me. Itchy, leathery bubbly red rash, lasts 2 weeks. Are you sure you are not coming into contact with poison ivy? Is it in your work area and you try to avoid it or do you avoid working in areas that have it? I have gotten it a couple times this year just by cutting through it with a chainsaw with my body fully covered. Even times when i avoid touching it all together I get it just by being around the stuff, maybe the brush I drag through it transfers it to me.

It isn't just transfered through the leaves, the vines and roots also carry the oil that causes the rash and it can get into your skin just by you touching contaminated clothes or tools. Nasty stuff

The oils from poison ivy/oak/sumac, can persist for a long time (even through washings) on clothing. Maybe it is on your gloves or the like???

Agree with possible poison ivy, just now getting past my latest episode. Easy way for me to tell, the hotter the shower the more soothing it is to the itch.
Oh, and a word to the wise. Watch where you scratch when you're out in the middle of that stuff. :blob2:

Chuck all your gloves into a bag, and wear a new pair for a week.

If the rash eases, ya know it was the gloves re-contaminating your wrists. If not, ya got something else going on.

It's not unusual to have localized allergic reactions, in areas that have been affected previously, when exposed to a very small amount of the irritant.

You on any meds?
It's goofy, but some Meds have oddball side effects like localized reactions.

Laundry detergent? Fabric softener? Some folks react to the laundry chem.

Localized reactions to other irritants then the original also can happen. Had that happen with a pair of boots that got soaked with herbicide..drove me nuts trying to figure out how the hell I was getting Poison Ivy on my feet in January. Went through a couple dozen pairs of socks before the Allergist figured it out.

On the wood issue, if you think you are, be carefull and get tested.
This time of year the air is literally toxic if you are allergic to tree pollen, and can kill you. I found out the hard way, and it ain't fun.

It takes the doc about 30min to poke the hell outta ya and then tell you exactly what you react to, and then explain how to deal with it.

Best of luck to ya in narrowing things down.

Stay safe!
