I recently switched out my lanyard to a friction hitch from micro-cender...
The other day I noticed the velcro on the flap of my cell phone holster was loose and it grabbed the friction hitch and was acting like a slack tender so the knot wouldn't grab....

I like being able to count on my climbing systems 100% so I got very concerned. I need to modify the hitch and probably will add a biner and micro pulley as I don't like having to reach so far back to pull the line through the D.... that should keep the hitch away from velcro...

Anyone had similar situation occur?

just stck with the micro/adjuster daniel.although some people(most)hate sanko saftey belts in reality there great too.

My keys and phone stay in truck in case of emergency, ground has total control. i carry my wallet in my L.Front pocket; it has formed quite a nice padding for my leg, pressing stuff over and balancing on thigh; wallet giving padding.

why is everyone using hitches on there lanyards these days??is everybody that poor they have to use a $2 prussic line:confused: .i know you love this ''new school, wherever that might be;) but why try re-invent the wheel.if you use a adjuster you can keep your phone with you and feel 100%confident

i like a bend and a hitch as much as the next guy spydey:angel:

Daniel,

I count that as a near-miss. Keep the phone in the truck; we like having you around!

im not knocking using a prussic :D but i think a petzel or similar adjuster would be a better alround for daniel.i dont like new england on new england either beacause of using same diameters but thats me im picky with small things.i still use a sanko saftey belt as well its served me fine, great to flip

Wouldn’t it be easier to relocate the phone? Glue it to your helmet. Besides customers love it when you talk to them from a tree and who wants to burn out of a tree to order a pizza for lunch?

i was seeing this girl that loved to talk dirty when i was bucket cutting by the hour, thats a valid reason to have your cell with you:)

I should add that using Nextel two-way as a communication tool while doing a complicated removal IS cool. 'Specially with the speaker-mic!

I carry two cells phones in the tree, though I will often ignore the incoming calls... I didn't like the idea of talking on the phone while aloft, but have gotten used to the idea... I like to be available to my clients...

i tried carrying my phone for emergencies but dropped it and smooshed it too many times. it stays on the ground now. have to say i'm w/rocky on this one - there isn't a call important enough to carry the phone in the tree. except when my dog was in surgery...

I just got a new one and tried to take it in the tree. Not so that I might miss some stupid call, it is one of those with a camera in it. Wanted to take pics of certain things for my own reference.

Dah, I spent a lot of time tinking about secure place for phone. Hey, it aint for climbing. Guys who do tree work and are on the phone are not commited to tree work. They have a compulsion for being wanted. And that is not acceptable for climbing and being with the tree!

Love ya as much as Nick,
Jack:angel:

nothing wrong with carrying a phone on a light prune or something if it's necessary. i think i would fire it out of the tree tho if it started ringing just as i was rigging off something complicated.

did your big puppy come thru it alright Kathy?

phone in the truck. work in the tree. make sure your groundman has a phone in case you get hurt otherwise i hope they are good at aerial rescue. to side with aussie i use a petzel micro on my lanyard...so easy to use
