ok men I have a very large job comming up that involves 400 plus crabs to prune for the winter. What is your advice or experience with Banditt or Vermeer or who ever for a small 6" chipper. Don't really need bigger for this project and the compact size is the key for getting the work done. Any advice on these small chippers pro and con would be great.

if your gonna get the 6" go with the Bandit... the feed throat of the vermeer is 6" high 6" wide and requires you to have to trim Y's so that they fit in the chipper. Y's in even smaller 3-4" branches can require cutting. The Bandit has a 6" high but 11" wide feed throat and it allows you to get much more stuff through the chipper without the extra work... I would also look for the 27hp kohler or diesel motors.

Just used a vermeer 625 for the first time yesterday. It is a little slow and you do have to cut the "Y's" but it really was better than I expected from what I have read about it here on AS. It almost croaked on a 4" hickory but I'd imagine that it could eat all those crate trimmings without a issue

I bought a Bandit 65XL with a Hatz 35 hp (air cooled) diesel back in 2005.
It has given me very little grief. One thing that I don't like is that it doesn't have a clutch. = hard on the starter, and the starter is a lot of coin. Still running on the original drive belts.
Bandit had a 7" model with twin infeed rollers at TCI Expo last year. It looked nice, with a liquid cooled 44hp Kubota diesel, and an over center clutch.

The vermeer 6 inch stinks, its really rental yard fodder, cheap but only barely up to pro work. The rayco 6 inch is heavier but still only a 6x6. The brush bandit is 3 times the chipper. The morbark, carlton and salsco are probably in the same league

I went from 6x6 to 6x12 chippers. Same HP but twice as fast. Less processing, less fuel use and just generally a big time saver.

Yeah the vermeer 6in sucks but he is talking about crate myrtle trimmings.... why should he waste money to rent a 12 in or 18 in?? Thats another $100 plus a day to rent and will burn more fuel. I cant find a bandit 6in to rent around me so just go with what you can whether it be the vermeer, morbark or bandit.

Forget all the ego BS, get a small chipper for a small job and maximize your profits for the day. Good luck.
