Are there any safty issues by putting a smaller bar on a chainsaw?
I have a 16" bar on the saw but would like to put a 12" or 10" bar for pruning and delimding.

As long as the bar and chain you put on are proper for the saw, I see no reason it would be detrimental to safety. I would figure the lighter bar and chain to be less fatigueing and easier to handle.

I peronally think shoter bars are safer. You have more leverage over the bar in a kickback situation.
