My groundman/ climber trainee when I was a foreman at Davey was 5'5" and about 125 lbs. We used to joke about how the two smallest guys in the office did all the biggest removals! We just had to work smarter, not harder. We had to be smarter than the logs!

I know a kid who is probably 5'4 or 5'5, somewhere around there. Not sure how much the kid weighs. But he has got me for the shortest climber.

I'm 5'2" but weigh enough to be 5'8"

There is a guy around here goes by the name "Quince" who is smaller.

Here is a photo of one of my ex-climber helpers at Western Illinois University. It is not the best, since he is behind the brushpile in the lower left. He is standing up. The name is Mike. The first time he tried to climb he had the saddle a little to low and ended up upside down on the side of the tree. My only suggestion was to lower himself slowly. Became quite proficient, though not vey fast. He was limited to about an 8" pull on the line each time by his reach.

He was about 4', maybe a little less. About 25 years old, built like a fireplug, a real babe magnet. Great worker.

I had to laugh seeing this post. I am only 5'03" 150lbs. I get teased alot because i am the shortest worker in the area i work in but my foreman tells me i work harder then half the guys there so im still happy :)

There are at least 10 climbers here between 5' and 5'5". Most of them are really really good. One climber at 5'1" has won couple of the jamborees. He worked for me for a couple of months. Hard to beat him for getting waaay out on a limb. Being small and light has many advantages in a tree.

5'7" 145lbs. my old boss was middle 40's 6'4" red hair, he climbed like an orangutan and i climb like a chimp.
56, alright! that's great I pray to be in the trees till the end! I bet your not a smoker huh? i'm battling nicotine yet again! MY will will prevale!
The supposed best trimmer on the lot at work is about 5'4" 165lbs.

I have worked with a few Guatemalan climbers that were 5' or a little less. Fast guys. Also worked with a Mexican that was a Yaqui indian - he was 4'10" fast and comical to watch him using an 066 - saw was bigger than him.

Seen a few tubby climbers that could move real fast too.

Never seen any of the giants.

Seems like the fastest foot lock guys are tall. Mark C is tall. But if I remember from the posted times, Ronny Epple is a fast foot locker - if memory serves me right, he isn't tall. Not short, but not tall. So much for the tall FL theory.

at 5'10" I consider myself not short, and not tall. Guess everyone is short compared to JPS.

It is all relative. A few years back I drove to Mexico City and went to some discos there - it was great, I was the tallest guy in the place!!

JPS - ever go to Japan??

My ideal climber would be 8 ft. tall, weigh about 50 lbs with the strength of a 300 lb. powerlifter. :D
