Yesterday morning our valley was a little bit smoky. Was wondering if it was from the activities of one of the members here who has not yet fulfilled a challenge.

Here's a picture from up in the hills.

There were two fires yesterday, but nothing big enough that it was visible even as far away as Lacey, so that one wasn't ours. Thursday, however, we had two good columns from Rx burns that should have been visible for at least 30 miles, and, later in the day, a PITA snakey bastid in the impact area that kept jumping lines so we chased it most of the afternoon... plan, light, back off, watch it crawl around control lines and flare back up again, lather, rinse, repeat. All told, probably 750 acres in about 90% grass with the occasional prairie-colonizing fir candling to keep things interesting. Oh, and a bear attack across the road the same day. Earned my Haz pay on that one for sure!

(still hopin' to get loft enough to annoy King County)

Big wheat fire south of The Dalles last week. Looked to be on Five mile.

Well that's not good Sam.

Ol Cody may get to dust off his fireman's-falling-boots after all!

Lol, much too steep and rocky!! Danger! Wife and I hike up there a lot. Hell of a show in the dark though. Try and get some picks up after work tomorow. Sprinklers are running.

I'll pray tonight that all the winds stay pointing uphill. . . What's your fuel interface like there? Anything close (besides buildings) that can catch fire real easy?

Live from my front yard. 10 minutes ago. 6 days after the fact. We need some of you old school firefighters to come whip these fat little firewatchers into shape. C'mon out Randy!

A CH Chinook just showed up. I think they are done playing games.

We're supposed to go into the 70's for daytime highs, and a few degrees above freezing for the lows. That should help the fire dudes get stuff under control.

Although, there's maybe gonna be some thunder boomers this week, so I'm hoping it doesn't spark off anymore burners.

Bring on the frost! My wool coat is waiting.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I would like to get at least one of my expensive tomatoes ripe. It'll be a $20 tomato. But, it will be LOCALLY grown. That's all that matters.

I have been snowed on, hard this time of August. About 4 inches in the Pasayton Wilderness. It was a bright and sunny day.....little did we know.....are you asleep yet?

Lol, our maters ain't quite there yet either. Did have some good stuffed peppers last night though.
