that saw is remanufactured, not new but still should be a good saw:angel:

Remanufactured can be a good thing
I prefer remanufactured. Usually it is a open box item reinspected by the manufacturer or something was wrong and now it is better then new.

A new 690 for $500? That's a steal IMO. It's my understanding that the only reason Solo went to the 694 was that the 690 wouldn't pass emissions and the 694 has a better air filtration system on it. It has been my experience that the 690 is a "bulldog", high torque type saw as opposed to a high rpm saw. IMO it will cut w/the other big boys just fine. I'm a big fan of the 690 if you couldn't tell. Uses Oregon bars and chains. There is a distributor in CA so finding a dealer shouldn't be a problem. Let us know what you decide, won't you?

690 will not pass todays EPA requirements so they sold them out and stamped them as refurbished to sell them.

Solo is not allowed to sell anymore new 690's due EPA issue.
Solo is suggesting the retail stores that have 690's in stock be sold for $629 new and $449 refurbished. They are promoting the newer quieter and lighter 694.
Both new and refurbished have a 2 year commercial warranty.
