If you build a race saw, you gotta have a place to run it, right. I can't find any info on "hot saw" races down here around these parts. Can anybody help me? Might have to start a show of my own? ..., yea, like I need that.:)

Hot Saws

Mike, I have a hot saw question too. Where do you get rules and regulations on building up a hot saw, and what type of classes there are?

I think most events are based on the same things...but all have their own variances...i am going to my first race in a couple weeks...this is 100cc and under..stock appearing with a pipe...means only one little holein th cover to get some juice in there to warm the saw up...then its a cold start...other events are warm start....I am getting some copies of a rule book that governs most of our events..."CanLog"...as I am unsure of rules myself.....Like I said..I think each area or event have their own rules and classes....I am still not 100% on what the classes will be at the revival...modified 5 cube and under...mod 6 and under...open class..then unlimited....Roberts Predator and the V6 Nitrous will prolly be the only in that class....I am hoping to be able to race the open...;) we will see...when I get the rule book i will know more...

hot saws

Open class - in which the saw may be of any manufacture like snowmobile, motorcycle, chainsaw etc. Modified stock- in which the saw must have originated as a chainsaw then modified. Stock appearing- in which the saw must have originated as a stock chainsaw and still appears to be one aithough it may be highly modified under the plastic. Tuned exhausts and uncovered carbs would not be allowed in stock appearing. In each of these cases the powersaw will be of contestants choice but limited to one cylinder and must be manually started by the pulling of a cord. Each saw should include a sprocket cover to keep thrown chains with the saw. Excessive filling of the side plates of the chain is not allowed. This is the only info I could find on the net. I got it off of www.starinfo.com/liguide/ So Dennis is the man on this question.

mike,
yes, many places have differant rules. one place in pa. had must appear as a chainsaw, you can do anything inside you like but must appear stock. must have started out as a chainsaw, as long as it is on a chainsaw(pipes, slide carb etc.)it can run. then the "if you can pick it up, you can run it" class. if you could pick up a pinto motor, it can run.
if you want to find places to compete go to "american axemans news" arden lists lots of shows all over the planet. i think he still puts out an annual the lists previous and upcoming shows, stories, photos, record holders, interviews and more.

dennis,
how'd ya make out? i have arden's phone number also if it will speed the process. his mom will tell you how much the fee is for the annual. if you have shows you want to list or results of your shows she will explain what has to be done. marty

Thanks Marty for that information. East, West and North schedules but no Southern... unless I missed something. Well, may have to look into starting some kind of festival. Sponsers might be Bailey's, Husky, Stihl, Tennessee Forrest Ass... yeah, I can see it happening. Ya'll get sharpened up there.:)

if ya'll want, i kin give ya's ardens number and ya' kin find out if the info is in the annual. marty

Marty, I think the board saw your long list of states with no spaces between them as one really long word and didn't know where to seperate it. Paul
