Shortly after the Indiana GTG, bcmktg mentioned having one near Cincinnati. Several chimed in that they'd like to come if we can make it happen. I'd love to see this happen, but don't have anywhere to host it. Not to mention that I've never even been to a GTG yet. I've got a new DN361 I'd love to share. Lets make this happen!

At the present time I live in northern Ohio but am originally from Warren county. My mother still owns a farm that is about 4 miles south of Waynesville. If you can't find a place for a G.T.G. I might be able to arrange to cut wood on her farm. After the fall harvest would be the best time due to useing the fields for access. If you find a place I would be interested in coming down for it.

Count me in.

I could even toss a log into the back of the truck if we need one for cookies.
I still have the rest of that red oak laying right where we left it.
Besides I need to try that 3.7 Crapsman again. see if I can beta that little saw of Als..
Maybe I can find another petrified hickory somewhere.

May seem like a dumb question but what goes on at these G.T.G.'s? Timed cuts, race or just cut wood for the fun of it. Never been to one so I am just curious.

If you can promise a wet T-shirt contest, and a hotlegs one too, I will come. And If beer is allowed, I might entice my buddies at Bryan Equip.
to join in. I work at the major Stihl dealer in Louisville, the owner might
be interested if you say nice things about Stihl........

It depends, really. Some of them have been racing-oriented in the past, and others have been less formal. The ones I have been to have had a bit of friendly saw racing, some timed comparison cuts for educational purposes (swap sprockets, try different chains, stuff like that), some have involved a bit of milling, and most recently we did some firewood cutting and donated the wood to a local widow who could put the firewood to good use.

From my point of view, it is nice to get together with other saw enthusiasts, to try out other people's saws, to spend a day outdoors, and to share knowledge. And for the person who is either new to saws, who is buying their first "real" or "big" saw, or who is taking that first step into the world of being a saw enthusiast, coming out to a GTG is a great way to run a bunch of different saws before going out and putting money down on a particular make and model.

I'm sitting on 100 acres of fields and woods here. plenty of logs to cut and room to do it.
I'm about an average 2hr drive east of cincy, but that might put it closer for a few KY and WVa members.

as far as a big time race circuit, I wouldn't be interested. but if folks wanted to run saws, cut timed cuts, and a little informal running, that'd be cool with me.
y'all look up Wheelersburg, Ohio and tell me what you think.

Something I'd like to see too is climbers show up. would love to have some climbing races and demo's to go with all the cutting.
