OK, I know this has been gone over. Ive done the search, and found some info, but need more.

I cant find the Atop filing jig anywhere online.

attachment.php

Dones anyone have this? And can you use a square file with it?

Does anyone have anymore information on ANY square filing jig?

Yep, Thats the 2 places that had them. But i researched the Atop and decided I would stick to the 6 sided bevel file and do it free handed.
I have seen fast from true square race chain, never seen a atop chain at a race yet. Might be good for field cutting. Till I see it beat one of the locals square race chains in timed cuts. I am staying the course.

Just to show how far and how much we got to learn on the chains.
The machine one is a race chain and tried it with 7T and 8T to show difference. The saw was a modded 066. My try at chain is the hand filed one, just working on the cutter, no taking back of cutter off or lighting the chain any yet, no reducing of raker size either, just heights.

I put the good chain on today with 8T and ran 2.78 - 2.97 in 3 cuts 7" round very dry sycamore. 3 cuts and did it 3 times each.

2.78 - 2.97 8T machine sq
3.47 - 3.50 7T machine sq
3.59 - 3.81 8T hand filed sq

I couldnt find it on Cutterschoice website, didnt try walkers.

Cut, did they ever get back to you wether or not you can use a square file with the jig?
No they didnt, but thats what i was really wanting to know too. If it could be used with the 6 sided files and not the atop files. To find cutters choice, type in 2 words not one. cutters choice.

btw their it is a True squareground guide in the pipes :)
Will you please PM me and let me know when that True squareground guide comes out. I would be willing to look at it and try one. If it will take and be used with the 6 sided double bevel flat files.

Walkers got back to me and said he has the atop in 325 and 375, but thats all he wrote.

I shot back another asking if the guide can be used to sharpen square or not, and if the only files that can be used with it are the ones I need to buy from him.

Kipp, I too would be interested in that jig, please keep us posted, thanks.

Samething months ago. GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the question I posed to him.....

OK, do you have a pic of it you can send me? You say it comes with its own style of file, does that mean I cant use any other file with it other than the ones I have to get from you? Does it sharpen round ground chisel or square ground? Im looking for square ground specific, in 3/8. Can you send along a price with a pic?

Thanks so much for your time in my request.

Here is his response....

The file it comes with is flat with round edges. It is like the flat chisel file or the old oofy file. You can sharpen round grind chisel chain and make it like chisel ground chain. I do not have a pic. Go to vallorbe file company web site it might have a pic there. My computer for price is down for a moment I will try to get it later. I have used it it worked great.

I tried to find Vallorbes website, to no avail.

Anyone have a link?

Oh yea, I take it you are saying Ohio beat U of M. Did anybody hit a home run ?

Woody, thanks for that. Still doesnt say if its square filing or not. If it uses a standard flat file, not sure how it would be square. Or am I missing something!!!

Maybe Ill just go ahead and get it to find out.

the files are like the goofy files you describe (I think),
