I agree, I have pullers but that flywheel was still pretty tight to get jaws on. I'll take a picture of the intake later, it was almost torn in half. Ordered a new intake yesterday, just waiting for it now. I'll do the seals today since they're not in the way of anything else.
Stihl puller threads into flywheel and center bolt pushes on crank stub. Same one fits many Stihls. Don't have part # handy

Puch makes a similar one for motorcycles/bosch flywheels that has two different threads/sizes to fit/work with different flywheels. I can't recall which thread works with mid-size Stihls?

26mm x 1.5mm on one side and 22mm x 1.5mm on the other < $20 on ebay shipped

Thats funny, I think I have that puller from some 50cc scooters I used to have. I'll have to look to see if the threads are the same.

These pictures are of the intake boot, the intake side of the piston and exhaust side. The boot clamp was tightened till it was solid, I'm sure that helped tear it. Surprised the cylinder cleaned up as well as it did. The hatching is still visible after I was done.

I wouldn’t suggest an 044 carb unless you plan on racing the saw.

It takes away from saw “drivability“ a bunch, and unless an 044 boot/porting and a big muff mod is added it won’t add any performance. Air filtration becomes and issue, and the carb box needs to be hacked up plus the carb needles need to modded. It’s alot of work thats only worth it if the saw has the guts to pull enough air through the big ole HD carb.

Here’s a pic of a few I’ve done. You’ll also need a custom elbow to mount a green weenie to the back of it.

More pics.

These 2 were pretty hot, with Husky 246 pistons added.

Happy to hear cylinder cleaned up. Nikasil is tough stuff. Stay away from Chi-Com pistons

Well, I finally got it back together yesterday. The mail system lost my intake for a couple weeks so I had to wait till they found it. Set the carb back to 1 turn on the H and L screws, primed it slightly with some 2 stroke mix and she fired up on the 2nd pull. Seems to run good, just needs to be broken in a bit and adjusted to tune it after it warms up a couple times.

All in all, easier than I thought it would be.

Just wanted to say thanks to all that spoke up with advice, much appreciated.
