When Im gaffing, I always wear my 16 inchers. I had the same problem your having, so i tried those shank pads and they did help. I still feel a knock on the bone when I try to plant my spikes when working the spar but not as bad.

The shank on the steins are pretty wide I don't think theyd fit lol
