In terms of quality, durability, functionality, etc.

I'm looking to get one or the other and would like to know the above.

Thanks.

This will turn into a bloodbath, but I'll start us out anyway.

I have both Husky and Stihl, all pro models. I prefer Stihl overall.

Stihl has the biggest dealer network by far, which means parts and service anywhere you are. They are top dollar, but top quality too.

Does Chevy still make chain saws?:dizzy: :monkey:

I prefer Husqvarna, My dad and two brothers have stihl.None of us have had any problems...except my dad when he ran over his brand new 044 with his tractor...Not a good day

Both make great saws, go with the one with the greatest local support and best local dealer
I'd agree with that, more than most other brand recommendations. My local dealer sells both, so I went with their recommendations when I was starting out.

Both well build saws, the XP and the Stihl pro. I really like Husky's centrifugal air pre-filtration system, and they sure look easy to service. I am told they have more torque pound-for-pound. I own two Stihls, no Huskys. I thought Husky's were Home Depot junk until I held one in my hand and took it apart a bit. Really nice saw. And remember, torque torque torque, not power, regardless of what you buy.

I went to my local stihl dealer looking for a pole saw. I was talking with him about saws. All I own are husky's . But I have an open mind. Well I ask him is the stihl worth the added cost usually 1to 2 hundred per saw more . He could not make a desicion . Now I am not knocking stihl just saying . Go with what your budget allows . You won't go wrong with either one .

All I own are husky's, find they are well balanced and less vib than stihl. though, they are both very good saws. If you go with husky, make sure to go with the XP's. That, or just go with what you can afford for now, then upgrade later.
