I have a 009L that needed the ignition wire replaced. Which I did and it is running. it is not however stopping. I am thinking that I may have not hooked the wires up correctly. My 009 Is a solid state ignition. And has a part referred to on the IPL as key #13 Trigger unit. Can anyone who is familiar with this model tell me where the small wires go. I am not 100% sure how I hooked them up I remember a small wire that I hooked to one of the screws that holds the coil and I think I hooked the other wire to the second screw. Thinking maybe they should be on the same screw or maybe I hooked them in backwards or something. Any and all input welcome

Wire from the coil (electronic) or from the points? There was a connection under the flywheel. The slide switch must also make good contact from the wire to the metal case. Pretty common issue with these. Clean the case where the slide contacts it.

It is a solid state coil… no points. It does have the small electrical part that they call a trigger that is held to the coil by one of the screws that secure the coil in place. I got a like confused at to which wire went where. Not sure but I think I have one wire hooked to each of the 2 screws…dies it make a difference? I may have disturbed the connection of the switch to the lever it needs to touch.

One other thing. The 011AV model that I have has a small rectangular steel bar guide that screws into the crankcase. It fIts into the slot in the bar and keeps the bar from spinning. It has come loose…stripped out of the magnesium crankcase. Any thoughts on the best way to reattach the guide. Helicoil JBWeld?

While since I worked on an 009 ignition. Usually they are either just dirty or the spark plug wire has grounded to the cylinder. If you have one wire under one screw and the other wire under the other screw you are effectively doing nothing. Remember, you are shorting the coil to ground. So, one wire will go to ground and the other wire to whatever they chose too short it with. Usually a spade terminal on the side of the coil.
