Well the saw runs great now. Rebuilt carb this morning. But now no oil. Pulled the pump and the hose came off. The hose is brittle so had it barely over the pump’s barn fitting (which is gigantic for this hose size).image.jpg

Pick points to a stubby brass tube that is the end of the oiling circuit, terminating at the bar oiling slot. Do I tug out the brass fitting, connect tube, feed back into the tank, attach other end to the pump barb fitting?

Disregard. I’m a dummy. I gently tugged the “brass tube”. It’s simply the end of the hose. The ID has a tarnished brass color. This is easy repair, it seems.

OK, minute by minute I’m becoming less ignorant. Appears the rubber hose is slipped over a brass tube to make it a snug fit to the hole in the case.

The 009 Is one of my favorites, I grab that saw a lot and it always runs, Mine was in a flood in 2006 and the guy left it sit for many years and I was talking to him and he said he was throwing it out, It was covered in Mud and what not he never did a thing after the flood.

I took it home with no hope of it running so I took a garden hose and rinse the everything out including the carb and cylinder. I sprayed WD-40 or something in it then put a new Fuel and air filter along with a plug, fresh gas and it started on the 4th or so pull and has been running ever since. I did put a new carb on it about 10 Years ago but It ran with the flood carb for many years.

This is a great little saw, I run a 14 Inch bar usually.

Does the replacement hose come with a spring already installed or do you have to put the spring in the new hose?
I suppose you can buy an assembly, but I just used Stihl fuel line. It's the same tubing as the fuel feed and tank vent, just with the spring and a brass insert in the bar end. Spring slides right in, no fighting with it.

Oiling fine now. But she needs a chain. The first real money I've had to put into this $40 saw.
I just did the same today, cleaned out the pump and reassemble then run the saw and still no oil supplied, pulled the oil line and couldn't blow through it so replaced it with one from a spare saw and now it oils. Someone has replaced the old oil line with what used to be clear line, I poked a wire through it and it was blocked solid, out came a lot of fines.

The pump is supposed to have a foam filter around the skinny stem. If made of an oil resistant foam, and if replaced before deterioration, that seems like a good idea. If not then the filter becomes a source for debris. I wonder if your oil line was full of foam bits.

If you are referring to my comment then no there were no foam bits, a lot of wood fines came out when I unplugged the line.
