Stihl 020T

I was in the local pawn shop on Saturday to have a look around.
Saw an 020T on a top shelf, seemed in really good condition with hardly any wear marks on saw or bar and priced very good. I took it outside and if fired right up. Ended up taking it home for $102.00.
Does Stihl use any date code method to determine the age of the saw? Is there a way to determine the age of the saw from the serial number?

Forget the age for that price for a true top shelf saw , just enjoy.
A 020(T) is not that old anyway.

I'd be interested in any way to date a Stihl. There are some oldies I wouldn't mind getting info on.

he jus didnt know what he had . it was little so he figured cheap.pawn shops around here want near new prices for stuff like that. i dont even look at what they got anymore.
by the way ,i got a real dependable 36 cc craftsman ,that i would probably trade for it. ill pay shipping . have we got a deal.

Turna quick buck and put it on ebay, one went for about $415? last week w/ no bar or chain!!

I've got a stihl catalog dated 1994 that shows the 020T as being new?

Toddppm, The 020T has had 2 versions, if the carb is on the side it's the early version, if the carb is on the top, it's the "new" (1994) version.

Toneman bought a 020 (T) not a (S) (AV) or the orginal just plain 020
