Hi,

I'm having a problem with my saw Stihl 026, not getting enough oil on the bar and chain.

I know the oiler is working , because I took off the bar started it and watched bar oil being pumped out the hole. When I reved the saw slightly more oil came dumping out.

The saw has maybe 30 tanks of fule run through it so it's perrty new.

I cleaned out the bar groove on both sides and checked to make sure the oiler hole on the bar was free of blockage. I even flipped the bar and tried both sides, but there is still no oil spray coming off the bar when I test it. After I checked all of the above and ran it, there is a ton of oil all around the oiler hole and case, but it's not making its way to the bar and chain. They are bone dry.

I looked at the oil pickup and it is clear. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

all aspects of it

Is the wood that you are cutting rotting, or rotton, if it is it will suck the oil off the chain quicker than anything. The oiler regulates itself via of saw rpm's, are you running at full thottle? Are you pushing down very hard on the chain, if you are you are making friction/ heat and not enough oil is able to get on the chain,........... oil is getting to it so look into each of these carefully........ it is a new saw so you cutting habits may need to be adapted to the saw,... keep your rev's up and lightly push with a sharp chain

Hi,

In order for the oil to get to the bar the "sandwich" made by the bar and case and bar cover must be tight and free of sawdust and contamination that would prevent this sandwich from being tight. The oil running down the case says you have a problem here.

You should also check for crud behind the oiler cover shield. A single slotted screw removes this cover and exposes the oiler and chain tensioning mechanism.

BTW, you are using the correct bar that has the oil hole in the right place for this saw aren't you?

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm using the correct Stihl bar 16".
I will take off of the plate you mentioned and check for blockage. Thanks again!
