Hi my name is Jeff, today I went to a fellows home to look at a washing machine and bought this instead. The guy bought the saw new and does not use it anymore. He and his wife are moving south and were having a sale of sorts. The saw is an 026 this saw has the type of carb with a high speed jet in it. My brothers 26 does not so I guess there were different models . The saw is in what I believe 85% condition or more. The top cover 026 badge still ahs the protective plastic on it. It also has what he told me is the original bar and chain on it? I am not sure about that but it does have the safety bumper link style chain. It was very dusty and had some sawdust inside the pto cover that I cleaned off . I put fresh mix and oil ( he told me he dumped out the gas and ran it dry) and in 3 pulls it was running great. I am going to ask $300.00 plus shipping ( you pay shipping) for this it also comes with a bar cover. It had a brand new Plug in it. He told me" he stores everything with a new plug so he don't forget to put a new one in when he wants to use it in the future, So she will be all set to go" The man has a beautiful home and tractor camper ect. He really takes care of his s stuff. IMG_0277.JPG IMG_0278.JPG IMG_0280.JPG IMG_0283.JPG IMG_0284.JPG

Well It may be a little high but a man on A.S that I trust told me this. "A 260 is close to $700.00?"
I don't know the price here in central Maine but I can make a call and find out quick enough I guess. I assume prices vary throughout the country.
His rule of thumb is this "price a good running saw at half the price of a new saw so that would be $350.00" . Then he said" if your saw is better than average you need to price it accordingly thus a little higher than $350.00". He suggested $400.00 I thought that was too high so I settled on $375.00
He said he owns 6 of these saws and other than that he would make me an offer. If you think you would like to make me an offer please pm me. I don't do this very often,.. but just the other day I sold a Homelite and a Mini Mac. That said, that was the first time I have ever sold a saw .I like to tinker on them but I fall in love with them fast so selling just don't seem right. The 026 is the nicest looking & running used saw I have ever owned. I have a few Partners that are so close in size to the 026 that I don't need this one . So that is why I am selling it. Feel free to make an offer if you want to I am open to discussion .Thanks for the interest though. Jeff

The 026 has been out of production for quite some time. It was replaced by the 260, then years later, it was replaced by the 261. And the 261 is only a $600 saw and it's Mtronic (autotune. No screwdriver needed to tune it. Just run it)

I am not saying the saw is overpriced. I just want point out If you call your dealer? That they can't tell you What a current day 026 will cost. They have been out of production for well over 10 yrs.

I just sold a 026 for 225 in super good condition and was happy to get that , also just sold a excelent 260 pro for 325 and that was a fair price to get . 225 is in the ballpark

Yep well that is good to know .The man here was just trying to help me with a used price at my request. I have a real good relationship with the local dealer I will stop by and see him today. I have not bought a new saw since 1983. So that is why I asked the gentleman for some price guidance. I will go see my dealer today and get his opinion he has sold Stihl for many years. Thanks for the input. At least no one is calling me names.... yet ha ha. New to this saw selling stuff can you tell? Jeff

Theres a 026 on CL here for $125 im going to try to get it for $100.

I just sold a near mint 260 for 260. 375 may be what he would ask for it, but it would probably sit on his shelf for a while. Good luck with your sale.

Everyone's always looking for a good deal, that is a nice saw with some value to someone who wants it you just have to be willing to haggle, be patient and stay away from the cheapskate lowballers. I just sold the same saw in the same condition with a case for $300 shipped.

And here's the one Justin Moody is selling... $350
This 026 is a complete split case rebuild. New bearings seals and gaskets. It has a brand new Hyway top end. It also has a fully adjustable carb. I would be willing to port this saw for an additional $125. It is $350 shipped to the lower 48. This saw will be sold as is and no returns. If there are any issues we can discuss the a solution.

Good to hear did the buyer pay the shipping I presume? Thanks Jeff
