Just to throw my 2cents into the pot... good job on the carb swap and rebuild looks good...

Fuel lines: Stihls lines are "proprietary" which is another word for you have to buy one from an AM dealer or Stihl.

Bypass method to using tygon: cut the old gromet out of the old fuel line and drill it out to fit tygon fuel line through it, but leave it tight enough to seal the tank. Makes it 1000% easier replacing easy to get fuel line down the road.

As for the impulse line. Drill out the hole and cut your impulse line a little long. Tygon slides onto the cylinder nipple and the carb easily with no problems. I have started doing this on all the 026/036 and farmbosses I see and my customers thank me for $2 fuel lines instead of $15...

There is a debate about the straight gas line (there are 2 available for the 026). The newer line is a formed line and in my opinion a bit of a pain to install because the grommet is large. I have also found that you can use a 038 gas line on these saws -- it is designed the same as the newer 026 formed line (but it has a tapered area where it will seat easily into your tank assembly) Plus you get the benefit of the line extending to the bottom of the tank.

I love the project, keep posting the pics. This is going to be a very nice saw!

Stinkbait, check your pm's. I have a 024 that I may want you to work on.

I am always up for a new bait. Maybe I can get a sample. One of my buddies likes to use chicken hearts let to ripen in garlic.

Want me to bring a stock 026 up there so we can do a side by side comparison? Got one in with a WT194 and 18" .325 B&C. That will show you your gains...

You can if you want to. We can make a quick sprocket and bar change to make the comparison fair.
