Stihl 038 Service Manual

I've got a Stihl 038 and I've looked everywhere for a service manual.

I've found an IPL and operators manual. But just can't put my hands on a service manual. Can anyone out there help me out?

See that special assembly tool on page 13 for installing the chain brake tension spring? I finally broke down and made one in my shop. Best two hours I ever spent.

I used a 3" long 5/16" bolt, removed the hex head, and shaped the top 3/8" to fit the post where the spring is attached. Then I sunk the threaded end of the bolt into a hardwood oak handle that I turned on my lathe.

Done, and it works on lots of saws.

Try this. Years ago Stihl combined the 028 and 038 in one service manual.
