Hope that someone can help, my Stihl 041 wouldn't start and after the elimination process, discovered that the woodruff key had broken off, have removed the 2 pieces crank looks good, not sure why it happened, regards David.
Thanks for the reply, I will make sure that the nut securing the flywheel is up tight , regards David.I sheared one on mine when I was lazy and didn't torque the flywheel properly. That's about the only way to shear one, maybe yours was a bit light. They are available, I got a set of 6 from an ebay seller and back in business. They are tiny, a backup is a good idea.
Thanks for the message, will definitely make sure that its' up to torque regards thanks DavidLoose nut, re-torque it to 30 nm or 22 lb-ft. Stuff a piece of rope in the spark plug hole to stop the piston from moving.
