Today was a very profitable one. The saw is back in operation at 100%. The local dealer had all the parts in stock. Can you believe that with a 30 year old saw? I replaced the drive pin, sprocket, a complete used clutch, new oil pump o-ring and seal, and a used air filter cover since his was cracked. This guy had quite a few spare parts for the 041, including even a good crank. He not only had a used oil pump, but a brand new one as well. Thankfully we didn't need one since they're quite pricey. We got out the door with all those goodies for only $44 and the saw operates properly now.

About the oil tank flushing...I've never seen or had one get clogged.

They don't necessarily get clogged all the time guy. What happens is those little chips etc. get stuck in there, they clump and it makes your oiler work harder than it has to. Flushing it out every once in a while is a good thing guy. Trust me. My 30 yr old saws all get it every few months, along with winter grade Bar and Chain oil to keep them running smooth. Think of your vehicle. In the summer here I use a 10W-40, winter goes to 5W-30. It's the same...

I'm not sure why you guys are having so much trouble with cleaning out your oil tank... If you use a decent quality bar oil (not old engine oil, 90WT fluid, or whatever junk) the oil pumps and filters just don't block...

They do on my saws when it's cold out. I thin the bar oil with diesel, works fine. Now cold I mean well under 0.

I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 041 FARM BOSS. 041 ENGINE PERFORMANCE HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN, ALWAYS RUNS AT LOW OR WIDE OPEN.. JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OIL TO CHAIN.. THE PUMP IS DRIVEN FROM CLUTCH SPROCKET. TAKEN APART TIME AND TIME AGAIN. SEEN NO SIGNS OF WEAR ON PUMP SHAFTER OR THE O-RINGS... EVEN MADE SURE THE SHIM PLATE TO SAW CASE MATCH TO SAW CHANNEL AND TO THE BAR. THE OLDER MODEL SAW PERFORMANCE AND POWER OUT CLASS THE NEWLY PRODUCTION SAWS BECAUSE OF THE EMISSIONS BUILT INTO THE NEW JUNK SAWS...

OK sorry wasn't yelling, caps on. Still have issue with oil of bar/chain.

Should I replace o-rings on pump shafts and try again? Completely drain oil tank and washed out even. When running oil just dribbles out. Any ideas?

Take it apart, inspect again for the problems mentioned in this old thread, check the drive pin, drive gear for wear, replaceas necessary, clean tank, use good bar oil, I think I covered what was already said earlier. Good luck and welcome aboard. Lots of good info if you have time to look.
