On cold start I have to use the throttle lock and the engine starts immediately and I think runs way to fast. I immediately take the lock off and the saw idles perfectly. I am concerned that this will damage the piston and cylinder. Is there a way to adjust the lock so the throttle is not open as much?

Dont know if there is an adjustment, but it sounds like all is functioning as it should on start up. When my saws start immediately then idle perfectly I have to take a moment and praise the Gods of 2 Stroke.
