hi guys I have just acquired a nice stihl 056 super which has been standing idle years , so long that the fuel line has turned to gum in the tank. my question is, will I have to split the tank to fit a new fuel line? I haven't taken the other line out as yet but it looks like it fits over a nipple inside the tank ?. the reason I don't want to have to split the tank is that I don't think I can get a new gasket in the u.k ? never done of these before "said the vicar to the quire boy" ;Oo

ive just bought the same saw but cuts out, any issues with yours?
I don't know just yet its been laid up years presumably down to the fuel line ? it does have a strong spark though and turns over smoothly with tons of compression, which are all healthy signs ;o) I have another 3 056 project saws waiting for attention ;o)

Yeah reckon so, just trying to find the capacitor to do the fix.
Been to maplins but they don't use the same values mentioned in the other thread.
I was hoping you'd been & done this so I could pick yer brains

is your coil electronic ignition or points ?

I'm assuming electronic.
I haven't ripped it to buts yet but think this is the culprit

The above was a very good strong runner until the ignition died.

From watching evilbay, it looks like it would take $150-$200 to fix.

some pics of inside the tank of the offending dissolved fuel line, does anyone know what will shift that caramelised fuel in the tank as I have soaked it in brake and clutch cleaner and it didn't want to know. I even tried the wire brush I nthe rotary tool and it wont budge it either . would bleach shift it or oven pride ? I have cleaned up the two faces of the tanks with the rotary tool very nicely ready fro new gasket coming in the post ;o) does anyone know where you can obtain fuel lines for these in the u.k ? I coud easily coble one up but it may as well fit the original part if I can get one? regards captain dangerousstihl 056 super fuel tank 001.JPG stihl 056 super fuel tank 002.JPG stihl 056 super fuel tank 004.JPG d the wire brush I nthe rotary tool and it wont budge it either . would bleach shift it or oven pride ?

and the winner of the tank clean challenge was Mr Muscle oven cleaner. What a transformation after just 20 mins soaking and a toothbrush? for health and safety reasons I'm putting out this disclaimer. I'm not advocating using your wife's/partners (gotta be politically correct these days ;o)) oven cleaner, without their express permission/consent, particularly where unbalanced negative hormonal changes are present within the family home, in these cases, and in the best interest of maintaining the family unit, I strongly encourage all potential users to ask 1st? or buy your own, and never attempt anything without the gloves056 tank after Mr Muscle oven cleaner 001.JPG 056 tank after Mr Muscle oven cleaner 003.JPG 056 tank after Mr Muscle oven cleaner 004.JPG ;o) captain dangerous
