Ok I rebuilt this from just a block basically I put good parts nothing cheap. I did big bore with pop up piston. Pulls good 150lb compression great fire. Serial number 12838056, has everything new. 2 key flywheel 1209/1214. I put a 1314 coil on it . When I pull it with d handle it kicks back smoke comes out muffler just tad cylinder gets warm. I tried moving from x to p on flywheel and different type sounds but same thing. Can somebody help with this money pit lol? I'm a professional car mechanic I know stuff has to be in time I feel like it's not. Thanks I read posts on here daily just learning so pardon my stupidity. Love to learn more thanks.

Big bore cylinder and pop-up pistons don't usually mean good quality parts. Do you know what your actual ignition timing is? Squish measurement?

Big bore cylinder and pop-up pistons don't usually mean good quality parts. Do you know what your actual ignition timing is? Squish measurement? I've since removed the cylinder and done away with pop up piston and still to much compression. When I does hit it kicks back.. also stil has un usable amount of compression if did run .same result. I'm no where near a professional barely a self apprentice. But very mechanically inclined I'm just trying to learn. I'm using a metal base gasket also I should add. I'm at point to go back to factory bore nest. Unless anyone can help. Also if anyone knows the part number to the short block early style crank cylinder I would much appreciate it. I've spent a fortune learning pls help!!!
I don't have a good micrometer but 24 I tried advance timing. It has redicously to much compression only thing I can get it to do is backfire a little I think.
