I am buying a 260 series saw. In reading many threads on this there is some controversy about the alternatives and their features. I may actually buy the saw this weekend, so I am hoping for this issue to come to some focus.

Which would you buy the 260 or the 260 pro, and why?

As an aside, none of the local dealers have the Pro in stock, all say they will have it soon. Is that because it is selling so well, or is there some other reason?

thank you....

I would buy the standard 260. The only feature the pro has of use over the regular 260 is the intellicarb feature. You can make a standard carb a intellicarb by simply adding a differant top cover on the carb. I am sure the cosy og doing so would be reasonable.

Thank you for your thoughts. I did buy a standard 260 today. Now I am going to go out and saw with it....

To add the intellicarb, you need to change the top cover of the carb...............AND the rear half of the air filter. The nipple on the intellicarb fits into a grommet on air filter so the metering diaphragm sees m.a.p. or manifold absolute pressure.
