Stihl 271 carb limiters

I’m sure it been discussed but my search on here has not helped in finding the answer. So how does a person remove them on these saws?

Are you Just looking to tune the carb? If they’re the round metal ones, you can use a 2mm ( or close?) allen wrench, in the small center hole…

Looking to open muffler a bit and retune it and they r already backed to the stops now.

There’s a special tool. LH thread, pulls cap out, then you have 2 mm hex access.
Never tried anything but the tool.
You have to line up the notch then pull.

Again, an engineering mavel. On the rube goldberg level.
For a simple need, so overly complicated it freakin ridiculous.

OMG!!! The EPA police are coming!!!
They are a pain in the butt. The polymer segment must be removed from the adjusting screw and installed in the cap before reassembly.

I purchased the tool and pulled the high speed cap easily. Tried to pull the low screw cap and tugged pretty good and cannot get the cap to pul out. Is it supposed to pull like the high? Sure seems like it but hate to screw something up...

Screw the tool in all the way and once it is near the end it will get harder to turn and will pop that limiter loose then you can pull it out. Then take a pair of long needle nose pliers to hold the limiter cap so you can back the tool out then once the tool is out can work the limiter cap out between the filter box and side of the case with the needle nose pliers.
