Have my own 372, used lots of them at work. Nice saw, like glens said about a pound more and more jam. The spec I have says 5.4hp. ........

Glens mentioned a pair of balls, which mean 2 pounds difference!

You are comparing apples to oranges, these are 2 different categories of saws all together:

372 XP = 14.75 lbs – 71cc/4.3 c.i – 5.4 hp

MS361 = 12.3 lbs – 59cc/3.6 c.i – 4.4 hp

Obviously the saw with more power will handle large tress better.
Those numbers are from Madsen's site I presume. They are not quite fair, as the 14.75 pounds include full wrap handles, tall air filter and more that is not standard on the 372xp.

According to independent tests (DLG) the weight of the saws in question, without bar/chain but with cluch cover etc, is as follows:
357xp, 5.9 kg
361, 5.6 kg :)
440, 6.2 kg
372xp, 6.4 kg
7300, 6.4 kg
7900, 6.4 kg ;)
460 6.5 kg

Those are the European versions; there could be slight differences in the US ones.

Sawtroll,

That is still about 2 lbs difference between the 361 & 372 and they are still 2 different category/group saws.

NOTE: The husky weights came from Bailey's on line and a few other sites selling Husky. It is no ones fault if that is what husky supplies them to publish.

Husky no longer have this saw on their site in NA.

Yes, about is the word. There is a difference between 1.76 lbs and 2.45 lbs..... ;)

sorry I didn't look close enough at the specs. I have a 440 066 and 029 super and I was going to get a better mid saw in staid of the 029. also have 180 and its a awsome saw for how small it is
You don't seem to need another 70 cc saw, so as TonyM stated a 60 cc saw will probably serve you better. Most of the quality saws in this class have more power and less weight, compared to the 029.

Thanks for calculating it precisely for us, I did not have time which is why I rounded off to the closest numeric, I also did not view it as being all that important either.

It isn't really, but there is no reason to make the 372xp look even more off it's advertised weight than it already is!

An ms 361 would be the right saw for your needs. the 440/372 are in the same class I guess a husky 365 could compare to a 361.

Weight smeight - the 372 is a rockin saw regardless of what camp you like to hang out in, and you can't go wrong buying one...
