i have no idea what has been said before about this but i was talking to my dealer today and he said that it is illegal for them to sell still carb adjustment tools(this i already knew) but he said that instead of that top secret special tool you can just use a deep well 4mm hex socket. so after making a run to NAPA i went to the house and sure enough it is the same thing. Has anybody else known about this??

What carb are you working on? A flat head screw driver has always done the trick for me. The tool I want is for pulling the limiting tabs.

this is on pretty much all the new Stihl units. btw the still and husky cap puller is the same tool just a different handle it is husky part number 540 06 82-01 and stihl part number 5910 890 4500 i know baileys sells at least one of them but now that i think about it they might sell both.

So I guess that's what I need for the screws on the almost new BR550 blower I just picked up last week?

I didn't really look at it that close yet to be honest, just glanced at it and was a bit surprised to not find slotted screws with limiter calls on it.

Glad to see that Stihl is still busy copying others designs. ..

Swampman, are you saying that a 4mm hex tool will turn the splined carb adjustments? Stihl does come with the Zama carbs, right?

stihl does come with zama carbs but the new ones are not splined, instead they are shaped like if you were looking at an allen wrench. so you can go get a 4mm deep well socket and adjust the. next time you are at a stihl dealer look at the adjustment screws they are easiest to look at on the backpack blowers.

cool, Stihl dealer is not even 5 minutes from my house. Eagerly awaiting for these same "secret screws" to appear on all Zama carb equipped OPE.
