First time using today. Like it a lot.

Problem I encountered though was at the very start of each cut the chain/bar seemed to pull itself into the branch and then it would jam.

Is this normal?

I have the HT75.

My experience has been
1) have saw revved up before touching limb.
2) Hold most of the weight off the limb at start of cut.

Mine is about a 1 HP string trimmer with a chain saw on stick.
With all the leverage available (especially fully extended), it is very easy to let the saw get too much down pressure.

2 tanks of fuel and i'm ready for a break.

I also experienced this recently right after I had the chain on my 180 sharpened.

I have a HT75 polesaw gear head and am probably putting it on my FS130 or FS90. Could also use a FS70r, FS74, or FS75 powerhead with the straight shaft FS130 instead of the polesaw shaft since I am still looking for a good used shaft and am needing a bar and chain for it. Which one would you guys say I should go with? The 12, 14, or 16 inch and the 050 gauge or the smaller one? Mostly cutting mesquite or palo verde with it under 15 inches. 90% is under 6 inches and mesquite. Thanks for any insight. Weight is somewhat important to me since it would be at the end or the shaft. If anyone has a good telescopic shaft for a good price I would be interested. I am not someone with much to spend otherwise I would buy a new one already complete and not have pieced this together like I have. I could possibly trade a FS36, FS74, FS75 powerhead or a stihl weedeater gearhead . I have about 9 gearheads I am not using and 2 or 3 wont fit mine. Thanks

I have an HT-131. When I use it, it's revving pretty good when I start the cut. And, I use light pressure as well. As the cut progresses, I back off even more and help support the weight of the machine on the cut. I do keep the revs up as well.

It helps to have a 2nd person near-by to help pull down on the branch / limb to avoid pinching the bar.

Mine does it if I sharpen the chain. I rarely do anymore just put a new chain on. Dont even think about lowering the rakers!

The pulling in part is normal. My 131 will pull the extension out and I tie the end to the little knob to keep it from pulling out. Are you using the 0.043 chain, Stihl or Oregon? The Carlton 0.043 chain has the larger cutters from the 0.050 class 3/8lp.

Always undercut the limb about a quarter way through and you will never pinch it.
