Had a Stihl MS180C in the shop which already left but I like how you would remove the anti vibe buffers. I had removed the external caps but see any screws holding them on. Are they just held in by a fiction fit?

The reason I going to remove the wrap handle and dis-assembly to get to the oil pump and its hose to check for a oil leak.

That repair went south when I found I had only 90psi and the cylinder was badly scored so this info is for future reference. Also if anyone send me the service manual on the MS180/Ms180C it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

They just slide in Ana the cap forms a sort of a wedge to keep them in place. The only one that's messed up is on the top of the handle. The cap goes in from the back which is up against the cyl. For that one just loosen the engine bolts and slide the assembly out a little. The wedge plug goes in then you can keep going.
A little silicone or some other lubricant will do wonders for you. They are fun little saws with a little work.

The buffers are friction fit, they have a lip were they mount in the handle. The outer caps kinda lock the buffers in, with out them as you used the saw the rubber would work it's way out.

Thanks guys that what I was thinking just wasn't sure as they did won't to come out and I didn't want tear them up if they were fasten down.

It was strange though to find a 1/4 drive T27 socket in one.:)

Good luck with your repair, if you remove the oil pump be sure to measure the depth. Makes it a whole lot easier to re assemble it right.
