Hi all. Excuse me for any wrong doing I do as I am new to the site. I recently purchased a used Stihl MS 290. Got it for $150 bucks, and saw was used once. Im curious to know if there is any way to "open" this saw up. In addition any tips on how to adjust the carb. There is some lag between when the throttle is squeezed to when the chain reacts. I know, I know, everyone says the 290 is a tank, but it works well for me. It's only used to cut firewood and trim larger trees on my property. Anything real small I have a Huksy T435 for that I love and climb with. We use the 200t's and ms 310's @ work, yes they are nice and would love to have them, but they seem overkill for what I use them for at home. Kinda like driving a top fuel drag car only twice a month at 1/4 throttle

I can say three things about my two 029 Stihls........ they have always started, they have always done what I have ask of them, and when I sell both of them I am in the market for a 361.

Thank You will have to check it out. Any insight on the throttle lag?, or is that the nature of the beast?

Slow throttle response time? It's been covered in the chainsaw forum. They'll tell you how to adjust the carburetor to solve this problem if you post your question there.
