So...

If a guy wants to spend his hard earned money on a MS192 and his local dealer thinks they don't exist, and "why do you need one anyway, buy a 170, or a 180) How does he go about getting one given Stihl's rules and regs on how their dealers are allowed (and not allowed) to sell them? I have a MS200t that I bought barely used off EBAY and am amazed at the power it has. I think it would be wise if I did not use a Top Handle saw, and really don't Need the MS200 in my line-up. I'm not foolish enough to climb a tree to limb. So... back to the 192??? I don't need the power of the 200 and would like to have a little saw like the 192. I have used the top handle version of it also.

My world will certainly not end If I can't have one, but it is often frustrating in this day and age when you can't get your hands on something you want that you know is out there somewhere...

Just my 2 cents but I have tried the 192, then bought the 200. I could not give up the noticable power. But that is just me, and I know there is a large money difference in the 2.

TO add something to my answer. You will need to find a new dealer with STihl. My dealer of choice would not believe they made a 200 with a tail. I understand your problem. You will find a dealer that wants to sell a 192 if you look a little further.

Has the ms192 even been released yet?
At this point in time the dealer may be correct........it might not exist.

Check the Stihl website, it isn't listed. Sell the 200T and get a 200 rear handle. Or a 180. If neither of those work for you, look to another manufacturer to get the saw that meets your needs.

As far as I know, the 192 (non-T) hasn't been released yet...I thought it was due out sometime this spring?

I know what you're talking about...I wish Jonsered made a rear-handled limber. The 192T weighs approximately no pounds, and that'd be a useful tool for sure.

yep

Thanks for all the replies guys... I will take it all as sound advice. I'll check my dealer again after there is confirmation that the thing is really out there for sale.

It's in the 2007 catalog (Stihl NW), page 23. Should be real soon.

glad to see you mentioned NW lakeside :) I double checked as promised and it's not in mine yet. Hell, while at the lawn and garden show in louisville(oct) I asked why we couldn't get KM90 and 130 trimmer powerheads yet and the stihl rep was stunned LOL. I did get to meet Stihl's US president though which was kinda cool.

It hasnt been released yet. I have been running a prototype for a month ...

Ahhh. I was wonderin' what the story was on your MS192 ownership. :D

At some point it would be good to hear an assessment of the MS192 compared to the 170/180 alternative.

I understand the benefit and added expense of the 192T, but I'm not clear on the real advantages of the MS192 over the other light duty homer owner saws.

Ahhh, yes... the 192 is 2+ lbs lighter than the 170/180.

How about engine differences? Is there anything a little more pro-quality on the 192?
