We have a Stihl MS250 that is not oiling. Checked everything external to the oil pump and worm gear drive and are ready to start removing the clutch and replacing the oil pump parts as required.
I’ve seen several YouTube videos of replacing the oil pump and read a goodly number of threads in regards to the same.
The questions I have are:
Which is the more common problem, the plastic worm gear drive or the brass pump? I would have thought the plastic worm gear would strip out long before the brass pump - sort of an easy to get to, replaceable/sacrificial part vs the pump.
When the brass pump goes bad, what is failing internally?
Just curious.
Thanks!
