My ms260 has a muffler leak, which has caused a small hole via melting in the engine cover. I believe it's a muffler leak, as the hole is by the muffler, and I've been running it like this for a good while, and the saw hasn't blown up. I have to wear a glove on my left hand because it's so hot. Also, I rebuilt the carb, so I'm not lean.
My question is, can I use RTV red (rated to 650 degree Fahrenheit) to seal the two halves of the muffler? The metal gasket is there and in good shape, so I don't think it's a leak between the cylinder and the muffler. Could I use the RTV or do I have to go with something else?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Bryan
