Its $100 more for the lightweight, is it worth it? I was going to buy a 562, but the dealer can’t seem to get his hands on them and now he’s away until after thanksgiving. I certainly don’t begrudge him the vacation, but I want a saw this month before the weather goes south. Going to try Stihl. Kicker is that I have a brand new Husqvarna 24” bar on the rack…but it won’t bolt to the Stihl without modification.. right?

There are 2 562's on the shelf in Canton NY if you really want one.

Whew.. Canton… that brings back some fuzzy memories. I went to PSC and my cousin and my best friend from High school both went to SLU, spent a bunch of time in Canton.
Thanks for the heads up, I am sure I could find one if I really set my mind to it. I needed a little nudge to try something different, the last Stihl I had much experience with was a 440 magnum, and we still had a few 044’s I like both dealers, so I guess I kind of am looking forward to trying it. If I don’t like it, I can always sell it. Honestly the whole bar/chain thing is what’s really bothering me. Have Miles of .058-3/8 loops for 20, 24 and 28” bars. Still have plenty of Husqvarna saws to use them on, I just hate adding more variety of chain to stock.

I own both. I like running the 400 but 90% of the time grab the 562 over the 400.

LONG time Stihl only user, recently converted to solid orange.
Why do you prefer the 562? I have had 2 of them, loved them, so just curious. I’ve been following the other thread but its becoming tangential. I don’t know of anyone with a 400 to try.

Its purely anecdotal... It just feels better? Perhaps I'm still enamored with running a single color saw.... The huskies do seem to run longer on a tank... I do not know if its because the tanks are larger or they are more fuel efficient and I'm not interested in the reason!

The ONLY negative thing I have to say about some of the Husky saws is the outboard clutch.... Inboard is all Ive ever known. But again, purely anecdotal

And I run light bars in all sizes... Except the 16" on the 562. Yes its wroth the money. The weight difference between the 562 without a light bar and the 400 with a light bar is noticeable.

I think $100. Is a bit steep for lightweight upgrade. Should half that.
Should to cost difference between the two.

Well, that was sort of my thought. It almost seems like you could buy a 20” bar and order a lightweight separately and come out even.
At my shop if someone wants a light bar they just pay the difference. In the case of a 400 with 25” bar it comes out to around $60 dollars.
