Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
Stihl MS441 Curiousity!!!

I spoke to a Tech Rep at Northeast Stihl (this is the distributorship that I believe works trained Stihltech and Sedanman) in Connecticut today questioning the when the MS441 will be released. All this guy would say was that he hasn't seen it but some of his cohorts had. When I asked him about the release date :bang: he said '06. My gut feeling was late '06 or early '07!

Time will tell!!!

The "gut feeling" I have after a brief discussion on a German chainsaw forum is about the same.
It is reported to not be listed in the German 2006 dealers catalog.

Have you seen this on Stihls web site?
......
According to the link, it is .7 lbs heavier than the 440 and .1 kW more - this makes it heavier than the 460 - hardly impressive.

Looks Like......

That saw looks pretty interesting. the top cover and air filter cover, remind me of the 029 in a way. most of the pro saws, the a/f cover, and cyl cover have a bit of space between them, this theres none at all.

Maybe we should just hope that there will be a MS461, with just the bore size beeing different.
That would sure be more interesting......

....but it seems like Husky is up to something really interesting, provided the 390xp in fact weights 3 lbs less than the 395. That would put it roughly in the same weight class as the 441.....

May be EPA established some minimum weights for the saws:laugh:
In reality, probably, the runing on leaned up mix saw engines are much more loaded mechanically and thermically and are demanding stronger cranks jugs, pistons, crankcases. All this adds the extra wieght;)

Could this be along the same thinking lines that the ms650 is the less expensive option of the ms660? The ms441 is the roughly the same power as the ms440 but might be offered as being less expensive. This might be easier on the budget of the Joe Q Firewoodcutter vs. the Pro Logger, but Joe still needs the power.

Could be, but I think this may be Stihl's answer to the 575.

MS650 84.9cm3 MS660 91.6cm
MS440 MS441 both 70.7 cm
First pair rather different saws
Second pair rather the saw development

I tthink the same. This saw is Stihls first saw entry into the land of emmisions compliant two strokes. I suspect the internals design features are nearly Identical to the Ts700 concretet saw.

series

If history repeats itself, the 361 may be part of a series. 041, 051, 075.
031, 045, 056.
028, 038, 048.
034, 044, 064, 046.
361, 441, 461, 661.

Just a theory. The TS700 theory makes sense.

It sure seems like it is!

:angry2: :censored:

That was not what I hoped the 441 was about, but I have to admit I suspected it would be just that.....:bang:

It may well be improved in every other way, and I didn't really expect much of a power increase over the 440.
The weight increase is the big disappointment to me!
 My hopes was probably just too high I guess, because of the job they made on the 361.

The bright side of it is that now I don't have to find an excuse to buy one...
