Last week I bought a 441. I shopped for best price from 2 dealers, one dealer is known as the best Stihl dealer in town and the other is just down the road from my house. I pointed out to the guy down the road that I bought 2 Cub Cadet tractors and a Stihl trimmer from him the past 2 years, he gave me a nice deal. Bought the 441 with 20" bar for $725 plus 1 extra chain. The other Stihl dealer (where I bought my 260 Pro and many, many other Stihl items) wouldn't budge from $759. His loss.
Saw vitals: 441, 20" bar, green chain (not crappy RM3), decomp valve, elastostart cord
Anyway, my first impressions.... :greenchainsaw:
Saw starts very easily, didn't even need the decomp valve
Idle is a little rough and it did shut down after I let off the throttle after one cut. No big deal, I'll let it break in a little. My 260 did the same thing when it was brand new.
Cut 8 large oak rounds which were 24" in diameter like butter. Sawdust flying everywhere. The saw had very little vibration in the cut. Very, very smooth. No problems at all.
Cut up two 12 ft long oak limbs about 16" in diameter, no problem. Done in mere minutes.
I thought the saw would be too heavy, but it was no problem to handle.
First session with it, I was very impressed.
Since I have 4.5 more large fallen oaks to cut up, this saw will pay for itself in no time. It will provide me with some real nice firewood.
Now with the 260 and 441, I feel all my saw needs at my camp are solidly met.
Thanks THALL and Jeff for your advise.
