WENT TO MY STIHL DEALER ON MONDAY TO PICK UP SOME SUPPLYS. WHILE THERE I REALLY LOOKED AT THE 441 AND SOME OTHER NEW THINGS THAT I HADN'T PAID MUCH ATTENTION TO. i WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PRE FILTRATION SYSTEM ON THE 441. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME CONCEPT AS A DYSON VACCUM CLEANER, SPINNING THE DIRT OUT OF THE AIR. I OWN A DYSON AND WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER VACCUM UNLESS IT IS A DYSON. ALSO I TRIED THE E-Z START ON AN 250C. MAN, I THINK THAT IS JUST THE TITS. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE MAINTANCE ISSUES WILL BE WITH THAT IN THE FUTURE BUT IF THEY COULD GET THAT RELIABLE ENOUGH TO PUT ON THE PRO SAWS THAT WOULD BE GREAT. I BARLEY PULLED THE ROPE AND IT PRETTY MUCH STARTED ITSELF. LONG LIVE THE KING OF SAWS! STIHL

That "pre-filter" system is copied from the CCS, Turbo, Air injection and Superclean system used by Partner, Jonsered, Husky and Poulan for 15-20 years.

My guess is that some patent has expired....

Hi,

I find that quite funny! My daughter owns a Dyson but she went back to using normal Vacuum cleaners from Vorwerk (they make cleaners for office and industry) and refuses to touch the Dyson anymore. Nobody will buy it off her and she doesn't want to throw it away as it was a gift. I certainly wouldn't want one either as I already have poor eyesight and don't want to risk blindness.

Dyson should however be given some credit for inventing the uglist piece of household machinery ever to be seen on this planet.

Bye

Man I have had nothing but luck with my dyson.

The "Easy Start" is a POS... I won't sell it unless the person is physically disabled (seriously). It's not "Easy start" - it's "Easy Pull". If you miss the pop at choke, next wind up and spin will flood - then it really is a PITA to get restarted - you can't "long arm" a flooded Easy Start....

I refer to them as "UN-easy Start", but Stihl hasn't adopted my reference in national advertizing yet.

Lake, can you tell me what "long arm" means?

I might have to start a flooded machine sometime. Never!! LOL!

thanks

Could you see a dust bag put on a chainsaw. :taped: Now that would be ugly.
It would look like you would be carrying a motorized bag pipe.
The EPA would love it. No more oily wood chips on the forest floor.:taped:

Thanks Andy. Reading down through the thread, I was wondering how I was going to tactfully put it that I pray thay they never offer the Easy start crap on a pro saw because it's a PITA.

You took care of that for me!

I believe that you are right on.

...and I think that the same goes for the e-series (not e-tech) Huskys.

The vacuum repair man told me to not buy a unit without a bag. He said those units are 75% of his repair business.

What's the selling point with Dyson? I've got a $40 vaccum I bought at Wal-Mart that picks up dirt and dog hair just fine.

Ha!! So does my shop vac, but... The other-half (remember those?) seems to have higher standards when it comes to cleaning! Mine wants an ugly Dysan too, but I keep fixing the old Electrolux!:rockn:

thanks

It mean holding the throttle full open without the choke on and cranking like crazy - just like on an old Ford! "long arm" (not my invention) refers to the use of all of the starter rope I guess..

Excellent advice!! After all, you need a bag to run the darned thing, right?

Boy am I lucky my bag doesn't read this forum!! :jawdrop: Just kidding. My lovely wife is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me.

You might want to spray a little wd-40 under the caps key, let it dry out before you turn the machine back on.

:)

Never had one, likely never will.

And the higher standard of cleaning is reason #8,947 why I'm still single!
