Good to hear you got your chipper back. Hope it was in good shape. I've had smaller items stolen out of my trucks, like 15 or so chains I had hand-sharpened, just the way I like them, a few tools, a 350 Husky, right off the truck on a job. Never anything big. I've always suspected former employee(s) on some of these thefts. Is this the case with you?

Great story. Usually it would be far away if thief had any brains and fenced.

You have to think, how could I arrange it to come out ok if my insurance was involved and get that kind of insurance.

I had 4 expensive saws stolen couple of years ago and the insurance settlement was not bad at all. Didn't raise my rates either.

Congratulations....and death (better yet maiming) to thieves. Perfect machine to effect their punishment. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ahhhhhhhh RRRRRRRRRRRR.

It wasn't my chipper, just a fellow arborist I work back and forth with some. To my knowledge, it wasn't a former employee, but, who would steal something first off, and then stay in town with it?

They should have thrown the trash through the chipper when they caught him. Glad it worked out, but count on it this pos will be out of jail sooner than you think with more of an attitude . makes me sick.

was the scumbag that stole it from town or out of town? Seems like 7 miles away should have been on the cops radar real fast. How many other tree companies are in your area, say in a 50 mile radius. The cops should have at least gone business to business to check things out.

Anyway, congrats.

I agree, he will probably be out in a month or two. There are several, but I would guess a jack of all trades and master of none type of dude. The type that cuts professional arborist bids by a third. Oh well, sorry for venting, I just lost a job to one of those yesterday.
