Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the weight diff is between a Sugi Hara and a Power Match Plus is. I run a Husqvarna 390xp with a 24" bar and I am interested in purchasing a lightweight bar. Thank you.
#######, that sucks Joe....usually those cannons break before they bend. To the OP, never run a Sugi, but they are supposed to be the real deal. Never been overly impressed with the powermatch bars. Decent, but the tip life seems to be lacking.....but the tips are easy to get. I've just been doing the Windsor thing...not the toughest rails, but the tips seem to hold up pretty well. - Sam
I own 2 Sugi Hara bars. a 32" on a 281, and a 30" on a 480CD. Very nice bars. The problem is they are kinda a one size fits all. They come with spacers to fit them on different brand saws. If you are somebody who likes to run different bars on the same saw, and they aren't all Sugi Hara's then you have to yard the spacers back off your bar studs( and then not loose them).
Do they make an adapter for the small mount husky like a 346xp?
Never run a sugi hara but I'll just say that in search of something to run other than the powermatch plus that seems to wear out pretty fast, and after I bent my brand new cannon, I picked up a Carlton 34" .063 from Bailey's on closeout for like $50. 2 1/2 days and about 27 tanks later, so far so good.
Can't believe I bent that cannon, it was heavy, but man it felt true. I couldn't straighten it by hand sticking it into a bored stump- maybe I'll try and get the dozer blade to apply some pressure.
Hadn't bent a bar in damn near 2 years, buy a cannon, and bend it within 2 weeks or so.
I really liked the the GB titanium bars they were tough and reasonably priced but they went out of business. The Oregon bars are almost a throw away bar the rails are so soft. When the tip lets go they have a tendency to get the bearings suck in the rails, which are a pain to remove. I found a putty knife works well, and if you miss one they can raise havoc with your drive links. Would like to try a Sugi Hara if they made it a little easier to buy.
