I appreciate the advice. I actually just got an order from Edge & Engine yesterday for the saw, the heat shield was marked as backordered. They didn't have all the order in stock and it took a few days to round it up. I figured with them sending it on less the heat shield it's going to be awhile before they get it. I'll email chainsawr and see if he might have one.

If you can get the specs on a good coil, then perhaps look even farther afield for a replacement. by that I mean outside of the stihl chainsaw or cutoff saw world. Then it is a matter of fabbing a new mounting bracket, which could possibly be done with real thin steel and some epoxy.
It is sort of like factory OEM conden$er$ versus just looking for an equivalent generic capacitor and doing a little soldering. Ten bucks versus 25 cent....
There's mods then there's mods..this site is heavy on the mechanical mods, the electrical mods and work arounds are a bit shy and lacking, just generally speaking....

I have a 011 stihl that ran good til lost spark coil is bad. saw is in pretty good shape with a 14" bar it had good compression. I am in search of a 56mm piston and cylinder in good shape and a bar and chain 26" to 30" Im not sure what i need for size chain Im going to try to figure it out maybe we can work out a trade. I have pics to send just not enough time today to post them thanks.
