take it apart and see if the cylinder is damaged so you can assess what you actually need. It has the molded crank seals on the bearings that rarely fail unless the bearing takes a dump, the piston kit is dirt cheap at 12 bucks+ 7 dollar tube of permatex black, 3 dollars worth of fuel hose and your in business... . Being super critical rebuilding a 100 dollar black friday chainsaw is quite humorous :ices_rofl:

Do you know how to tune your chainsaw?
Did you tune your chainsaw?
The Poulans are tuned right at the edge of burning down to meet emissions. That and 50:1 mix dosnt leave a margin for anything to go wrong.
That's ONE reason I use 40:1.
If you get a tad too much gas well you got wiggle room. If not you got the shaft. To much oil or not enough is bad but 40:1 is middle of the very narrow road. Good luck

That saw is definitely worth rebuilding, with a simple muffler mod and proper carb tuning it can make a reasonable amount of power and in spite of the suggested possibility of a large expense, they rarely need more than a new piston and cylinder combo or maybe just new piston and rings if the cylinder can be cleaned up from aluminum transfer. They usually self destruct because the high speed setting from the factory is too lean. If you replace the top end, it is essential that the carb gets properly tuned and since this is a strato engine, it can be tricky. Do a search on how to tune a strato engine.
